Job Summary:
Manage the overall marketing efforts for the Phoenix office, as well as develop a proactive media relations program, dispensing newsworthy information to the media

Responsibilities/Duties:
Marketing:
· Provides marketing consulting and guidance to leadership in the Phoenix office
· Develops and guides marketing plans or strategies to position the office favorably with targeted clients and prospects to help grow the firm's business (advertising, sponsorship, PR, E-alerts, speaking opportunities, by-lined opportunities, panels, seminars, pod casts, database management, Web site presence, content development, etc.). Uses internal staff including, graphic artists, interactive media team and a database management resource to accomplish office goals
· Prepare or edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences
· Confer with other marketing team members to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on business decisions for Phoenix office
· Be the local liaison for business development marketing managers as they implement department strategies in Phoenix (including assisting with proposals, as needed)
Media Relations:
· Work closely with the public relations/communications manager to develop story concepts and write compelling press releases, public service announcements and media advisories to place in local, regional and national news media; plans and executes a local publicity program
· Research story ideas, develop relationships with journalists and member of the community and place stories and commentary to ensure the firm's key messages reach intended audiences
· Respond to requests for information from the media or designate another appropriate spokesperson or information source
· Plan and direct development and communication of informational programs to maintain favorable public perceptions of Polsinelli Shughart
· Coach attorneys on effective communication with the media
· Collect, compile and maintain media clip archive; responsible for monitoring press clippings and information sources
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field. A minimum of 5 years experience in the field of marketing and public relations, community relations or professional writing required. Very strong writing skills and superior interpersonal communication skills needed. Mastery of rules of grammar essential. Must be highly organized and able to multitask and work within deadlines.
