SMPS Arizona Chapter
President's Message 2009-2010
The central purpose and role of SMPS National and SMPS Arizona Chapter is to advocate for, educate, and connect leaders in the building industry. For this board year, I would like to challenge each and every member of the SMPS Arizona Chapter to advocate on several levels:
- To advocate for the value of business development and marketing in our A/E/C firms.
- To advocate and reposition SMPS in the association market as a professional resource for business development and marketing in the A/E/C industry.
- To advocate with other associations for the A/E/C industry.
- During the development of our chapter's strategy for 2009-10, several overall goals were set for the SMPS Arizona Chapter Leadership Team and Board of Directors:
- Targeting and increasing membership of senior-management level membership, e.g. engineers, architects and general contractors.
- Continuing the mentoring program as a benefit to membership.
- Inviting top level panelists and speakers at our programs to attract senior level management membership to SMPS.
- Introducing site tours as a new educational program.
- Building a solid foundation for the launch of Student Chapter in the fall of 2010.
- Continuing the City of Phoenix MBE/WBE presentations.
- Increasing the number of CPSMs in Arizona
- Challenging each 2009-10 board member to become CPSM certified in 2010.
- Meeting CEU/LU criteria for each educational event.
- Publicizing events and programs through social media.
- Our theme for the 2009-10 SMPS Arizona Chapter Board Year is, Oh the Places You will Go With SMPS! Each branch of the leadership team has introduced program changes and strategies to map out our journey and together we will take SMPS to new and exciting places. Please join the SMPS Arizona Leadership Team and the Board of Directors this year in advocating for a new level of professionalism in SMPS Arizona and, in turn, creating a new appreciation of business development and marketing services in the Arizona market.
Where are the places that SMPS can take you this year? Check out the new topics for the monthly breakfasts that are now geared toward owners and invite your principal. Participate in the mentoring program that is a benefit of your membership and will assist you in bringing your career to the next level. Keep up on industry trends and topics by reading the articles on the new SMPS Building Arizona Blog. Consider becoming CPSM certified and raise your standing with your employers, co-workers and colleagues in the A/E/C community.
Together we will bring SMPS Arizona and its entire membership to new levels of success and professionalism.
